Trifexis, a new flea and heartworm prevention
Trifexis
We have decided to stop carrying Comfortis, the flea killing pill that lasts for one month.  In it's place, we are using Trifexis.  This medication combines the flea-killing power of Comfortis with the heartworm prevention medication of Interceptor.  You now get heartworm, intestinal parasite and flea prevention all in one easy to give monthly tablet.

If you have recently purchased separate heartworm and flea medications here and would like to switch to Trifexis, we will be more than happy to return your previous purchase as credit toward a 6 month supply of Trifexis.

We also have $7 off coupons to help offset the cost of a 6 month supply.

Frontline Plus kills fleas fast
Frontline Plus
Frontline has gone off patent and there are several less-expensive generics available now.  Please be very careful with these because the inert ingredients (carrier, stabilizer, etc) are NOT the same.  We have seen multiple pets coming in with skin rashes soon after using these generic versions, which did not happen when these pets had brand-name Frontline applied.  Merial is also offering a couple of great deals: if you buy 3 tubes (one box) we will give you one tube FREE.  If you buy 6 tubes (2 boxes) then we will give you two tubes FREE!

Also, if you are having flea problems, there are multiple steps that you can take and Merial can help with.  If all pets are kept on Frontline purchased here for 3 months, and you are still having flea problems, then Merial will pay for Terminix to come out to diagnose and treat the problem.  Free evaluation from Terminix is a wonderful value as you will have taken an excellent step in stopping your flea problem in it's tracks!

Bynum Front Porch Music and Art
Bynum Front Porch

The Bynum Music Series began in 2001 as an effort among Bynum neighbors to create an event that would bring people to Bynum that could help sustain the Bynum General Store and Post Office, one of the only remaining historical business landmarks and social centers in the community. Unable to make a profit, the General Store's operator eventually closed the business in 2006.

To keep the community gathering place alive, Bynum neighbors banded together and created a non-profit organization called Bynum Front Porch. The organization creates family-friendly events and programs that celebrate the community’s rich history and bright future.

Through support from the Chatham Arts Council, the organization is able to present the annual Bynum Front Porch Music Series that takes place at the Bynum General Store every Friday night from May to September. It is open to the public and features a variety of bands spanning multiple musical genres including gospel, folk, blues, rockabilly and bluegrass. Other programs include the Bynum Front Porch Pickin’, various children’s programs and fundraisers.

Low Cost Spay/Neuter

Both CARE and Chatham County Animal Control have recently begun programs to help offset the cost of spaying or neutering your pet if you do not have the income to be able to afford these services.  Depending on your income, you may have no copay or only a $20 copay.  This includes the anesthesia, surgery, pain medications, one night hospitalization and a recheck appointment, as well as vaccinations for distemper and rabies.   CARE is now also offering free spay or neuter surgeries for Pit Bull Dogs.  Please contact CARE for more information.

These are excellent programs designed to help reduce the pet over-population problem.  We are very proud to help reduce fertility in feral cat colonies with our trap-neuter-release program, too.  If you have any questions or would like to inquire about getting animals in your care spayed or neutered, please call CARE (542-5757) or Chatham County Animal Control (542-7203).
