Services and Feedback

Medicine

At Hope Crossing Animal Hospital, we provide a full range of services.  One service we promote is  preventive medicine, which helps prevent illness and keep your pet healthy.  It may also protect you from zoonotic disease, or those illnesses passed from animals to people.  We also have internal medicine capability.  This means if your pet is sick, blood work can be performed and interpreted to try and understand what is going on.  Fluid and drug therapy can also be instituted to correct any underlying problem that may be found.

Surgery

A wide range of surgeries can be performed at Hope Crossing Animal Hospital.  The most common surgeries to be performed are spays and neuters.  We can perform these potentially life saving surgeries on pets as young as 12 weeks, when needed.  Other typical surgeries are feline declaws, growth removals, and exploratory surgery.  Most orthopedic surgery is referred to specialists.

Other Services

Other services provided include dental care, radiology services, hospitalization, bathing and grooming.  Our facility contains a separate, comfortable grooming room where we provide baths and general grooming for your pet.  Senior pets are very important to the staff and doctor, and these special pets need extra special care.  Most pets are considered seniors at around 7 years of age.  At this time, performing laboratory testing and more frequent physical examinations can help find problems early and aid in optimal treatment for his or her condition.  Early diagnosis and intervention can help stave off more severe problems later in life.

What is a Professional Dental Cleaning?

Sushine gets her teeth cleaned!  February is Pet Dental Health Month.  We will be giving 10% off all dental cleanings for the entire month!

All pets must undergo anesthesia for a professional dental cleaning to be performed.  The tube you see is called an endotracheal tube.  This is placed in the trachea and a cuff inflated to ensure that no water goes into the lungs.  The first image is of the dog's mouth prior to cleaning the teeth.  This is called Stage III periodontal disease.  There is mild bone loss and a few teeth are becoming loose.

This second picture is after the teeth have been cleaned with an ultrasonic scaler as well as a hand scaler.  These are the exact same tools that are used by a human dentist to clean your teeth.  The teeth are now being polished.  This helps to make sure that all of the teeth are smooth and fills in the microscopic scratches and etches in the teeth.  By filling in these scratches, we are helping to decrease the area where plaque bacteria can attach.

This third picture is after cleaning and polishing.  The mouth has been completely rinsed out, excess polish removed and the gums dried with gauze.  A final plaque barrier sealant gel is applied to the outer surface of all the teeth.  This barrier lasts for up to 8 days and helps prevent the recolonization of plaque bacteria to the teeth.
